MARE is the main project of Jess Konye seeking to encapsulate the beauty of the moon through lush electronic textures. Based currently in upstate New York, the synth-enthusiast enjoys work in a variety of facets from synthpop to ambient and even classical music.

The lunar maria (singular: mare ) are large, dark, basaltic plains on Earth's Moon, formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. They were dubbed maria, Latin for "seas", by early astronomers who mistook them for actual seas.
