Curious Comet is the latest project from musical duo Bob Donald and Niki Kaos. With an indie Alt Rock vibe, their debut album Authentic Earth will immerse you in a sonic bath of dynamic guitar work and emotive vocals. Self-produced at their home studio in Shushan, NY, the album tells stories of the human condition, through our connections with each other and our environment.
Now that recording has wrapped, Curious Comet is turning its attention to live performances in support of “Authentic Earth”, scheduled to be pre-released December 19th on Bandcamp. With COVID making live performance challenging, Curious Comet is focusing on select venues which employ strict safety protocols for social distancing. But the music must go on! Bob Donald (vocals, lead and rhythm guitar, keyboards and drums):
A careful ear, lead solos that convey the emotional core of the music, and songwriting that is slyly pointed, Bob Donald brings his passion and skills to Curious Comet’s rich tableaux of arrangements. With an arsenal of rich guitar sounds and intuitive performance style, Bob’s solos electrify and inspire.
In addition to guitar chops, Bob is a trained pianist and drummer, and knows his way around the bass too. Bob’s diverse talents provide much to delight listeners, and he has multiple projects in the hopper, including Bleak Little World (Prog-Americana) and DJ Crabby (Alt-Electronic Rock).
Niki Kaos (vocals, rhythm guitar, bass and drums):
Niki brings a treasure chest full of finely crafted songs, and a voice that effortlessly moves from a wail to a whisper, bringing a captivating intensity to her performances. A singer-songwriter for over 30 years, Niki’s introspective lyrics reflect her empathetic nature and sensitivity to her environment, and speak directly to the listener’s heart.
In true chaos style, Niki has had multiple monikers, including Niki Chaos and Niki Lee, but when forming Kaos Industries - an artist management and production company, the Kaos just felt right. After leading multiple bands of her own, including Full Toy Explosion and Mass Chaos, Niki joined up with Bleak Little World, and knew she had found her musical partner for life. Curious Comet is a culmination of the creative magic that happens when Niki and Bob combine musical talents.
