Traffic was one of the most influential bands of the late sixties and early 70’s. Original members were Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood and Dave Mason. They began as a psychedelic band, but later diversified their sound and included jazz like improvisation. With such hits as Paper Sun, Dear Mr Fantasy, Feelin' Alright, Pearly Queen and many more, they left a lasting legacy of music. The albums, John Barleycorn Must Die, and The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys are still staples of FM classic rock stations the world over.
Paper Sun is a group of seasoned award winning musicians who have performed with many of the best artists in the world. They have graced the stage and recordings with the Allman Brothers, the Band, James Taylor, Delbert McClinton, Little Feat, Todd Rundgren, Stevie Wonder and hundreds more. Together they create a formidable “Traffic” experience. They remain true to the spirit of the music, yet bring their own personalities to the mix, delighting audiences everywhere they go! BAND BIOS… Bruce Katz: Organ & Piano Bruce is a five time Nominee for the Blues Music Award (W.C. Handy Award) for "Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year”. While Blues is a very important part of his music, Bruce's music has more angles and influences, occupying a unique space where blues, "soul-jazz", jam-band rock, and all aspects of Americana Music collide into a style of original music all his own. He is equally comfortable playing Hammond B-3 Organ and Piano. Bruce has been leading the Bruce Katz Band for twenty-five years. Bruce toured and recorded with Ronnie Earl, Delbert McClinton Band, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, John Hammond, and many other legendary artists as well. He was a member of the Gregg Allman Band from 2007-2013.
Joey Eppard: Vocals & Guitar Joey is a music writer, recording artist, and the lead vocalist and guitarist for the experimental/ progressive rock band, “3”. Aside from performing solo, Joey also lends his powerful vocal range and presence to a wide assortment of musical tribute bands and productions.
Randy Ciarlante: Vocals & Drums Randy is a very talented musician who frequently played with The Band. He joined The Band in 1990, singing harmony and playing drums. He played and sang on their albums from the 1990s, including Jericho, High on the Hog and Jubilation. He later became a member of multiple other bands including the tribute band “The Weight”.
Scott Petito: Bass Scott is an award winning composer, producer and engineer. He is a gifted bassist and multiinstrumentalist who has performed on hundreds of recordings in many musical styles. Along with being a long term member of “The Fugs”, Scott has become particularly well known for his work in the folk and jazz genres, working with such musicians as; James Taylor, Pete Seeger, The Band, Jack DeJohnette, Don Byron, Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, Roy Haynes, John Scofield and hundreds of other leading musicians in jazz and popular music. Scott has recently released a highly anticipated and very well received new jazz CD titled “Rainbow Gravity”. Accompanied by an impressive group of musicians, this album of Scott’s original compositions has been a top pick of the year by many important critics and reviewers.
Danny Blume: Guitar Danny is a Grammy and Juno award-winning music producer, mixer, engineer, musician and recording studio owner. At the age of 8 he heard the Beatles, picked up a guitar and never looked back. He has played in a wide assortment of bands in various genres of music. He toured and recorded with Kid Creole and the Coconuts for over ten years. He has toured, performed and recorded with countless artists, including Iggy Pop, The Lounge Lizards, Jill Sobule, Level 42, Medeski, Martin Wood, Jewel, Lisa Loeb as well as leading his own bands.
Bill Harris: Sax & Flute Bill was born in Cincinnati, OH and grew up on the North Shore of Boston, MA, where he studied clarinet, sax and flute. After attending Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY, he moved to New York City and began his career as a professional woodwind player in the clubs, on Broadway and in the studio. His debut CD “The Extra Mile” was released in 2006 to rave reviews from critics and musicians alike. Bill has performed or recorded with such artists as Bruce Springsteen, Dr. John, Jose Feliciano, Stevie Wonder, Robbie Dupree, Natalie Merchant and Celine Dion.
